Research areas of the department include topology, algebra and analysis. In recent years the members of academic staff of the department have published several research articles on Lie algebras, computational groups and semigroups and approximation theory.
       Çukurova University is one of 8 universities in Turkey with current Ph.D. programmes. There have been postgraduate students from other Turkish universities in the Ph.D. programme of the department. Moreover several projects have been completed in co-operation with the Department of Mathematics of the University of St Andrews, U.K.
